The Transdimensional Projector was created by Forge when he was a student at Bayville High School, it could displace anything and anyone into another dimension where Forge himself was trapped, after Kurt Wagner came across it, Rogue fought him over it and attempted to take it for herself only to unintentionally activate it and cause Kurt to be teleported to Forge's dimension which caused Rogue to throw it out as Todd Tolansky questioned why it was was being thrown out, Rogue instead walked away as Toad then took the device and used it on Principal Darkhölme's car.
When Scott Summers, Jean Grey, Kitty Pryde and Evan Daniels went to find Kurt, they tracked down Toad and demanded to know where the former was as Toad pleaded innocent, Rogue confirmed he was in the clear and admitted that it was her behind Kurt's disappearance. After leading them into the the building she and Kurt had been, she showed the X-Men the device and explained it was the device that she had accidentally used.
In the other dimension, Forge helped Kurt gain more power which allowed the latter to briefly appear to his friends as he attempted to tell them to not destroy the device until he and Forge were safe and tried telling them to instead restart it before vanishing once more, Scott went to use his optic blasts only for the group to realise that Kurt was telling them to restart it, Scott did so as a portal began to open.
As the portal opened, Lance Alvers, Fred Dukes and Toad entered the room after Toad wanted to show the device to his allies, both groups started a fight that ended with the Transdimensional Projector being destroyed just moments before Kurt and Forge returned home.
