Around 1,500 years ago, a group of peoples came ashore to a few of the islands which would later be known as Hawaii. The islanders had rowed roughly around 2,000 miles from the Marquesas Islands and they were later joined by another group of people five thousand years later, people from what would become Tahiti. Because of this, the groups brought over their traditions and as time went on, they created new ones such as surfing, hula dancing and exchanging flower garlands which they called leis.

During 1810, Kamehameha became known as the first King of Hawaii and continued the tradition of having a monarch as a ruler into the 1880s. By 1898, Hawaii became known as a territory of the United States of America and by 1959, it was officially known as the 50th state of America, the Iolani Palace, the only royal building on American soil can still be visited by visitors and tourists and is located in Honolulu.

In Universe

Mr. and Mrs. Summers resided in Honolulu, Hawaii and eventually gave birth to the first son, Scott Summers who would go on to become the X-Men member known as Cyclops. Roughly a year or two later, Mrs. Summers gave birth to another son who was named Alex Summers and much like his brother, would also be a mutant. Scott and Alex were raised in Honolulu for many years but on the night that their plane began to crash, Mr Summers and his wife were forced to save their sons and gave up their lives as the two boys used the parachutes given to them to be taken to safety, Scott suffered worse than his brother due to hitting his head, the impact which caused his mutant powers to be out of control if he opened his eyes.

For years, Scott and Alex remained apart with both believing the other had died in the crash, Scott was taken to the hospital around the time his powers manifested where he begged the doctors to leave his eyes allow before his optic blasts fired, later on he was given a pair of ruby quartz glasses and then discharged before being allowed to leave with Logan Howlett and Professor Charles Xavier , Alex was eventually raised by foster parents and was renamed Alex Masters who went on to start surfing while living once again in Hawaii, on the day both his mutant powers began to awaken and his encounter with Erik Lehnsher, Scott travelled to the state with Logan and Charles where he reunited with his brother. After Erik was defeated on Asteroid M, Alex chose to remain in his state as Scott returned to his team.
