Mr. and Mrs. Pryde are the parents of Shadowcat aka Kitty Pryde.
History[]
Kitty's parents debuted in X Impulse alongside their daughter. They were first seen comforting their daughter after she claimed she fell through the floor and to the basement. Her parents try to comfort her by telling her that it was only a nightmare and that she must've been sleepwalking, only for them to look up and realize that Kitty's pillow and blanket were halfway phased through the floor. Not long after this, Kitty's mom catches her daughter trying to sneak out, despite some initial misgivings, she agrees to let her go to school. When Charles and Jean attempt to speak to them regarding Kitty's newly awakened powers the parents turned them both away. Much later, Mr. and Mrs. Pryde arrive at the school after Lance has convinced Kitty to help him break in, Lance attempts to collapse the school on them while he gets away but Kitty is able to save them. After this, they decide to let Kitty go to the Institute.
Mr. and Mrs. Pryde later made a cameo in the episode On Angel's Wings, where they're shown celebrating the holidays with their daughter.
Personality[]
Mr. and Mrs. Pryde are shown to be very loving and protective parents. Due to their lack of understanding regarding mutants they initially try to ignore it when Kitty's powers emerge, even having her stay home from school, which only serves to further scare her. Despite this, they do care about their daughter very much, as shown when Mrs. Pryde lets Kitty go to school and when they were horrified when they thought that she died. Kitty's father apologizes for scaring her and refusing to talk to Kitty regarding her powers and, in the end, both agree to send her to the Institute.
