History[]
Deerfield is a village in Lake and Cook counties in the state of Illinois and is a northern suburb of Chicago. Deerfield is located on the North Shore, about 28 miles north of downtown Chicago. The population was 19,196 at the 2020 census.
Mutant Detection[]
After Cerebro detected the use of mutant powers within the area, Jean and Xavier travelled to the area to talk to Mr and Mrs Pryde into letting Kitty return to New York with them. After some time, Kitty was allowed to go to Bayville and began living at the School for Gifted Youngsters and attended Bayville High School. During the holidays, such as Hanukah, Kitty returns to her parents to celebrate with them.
Unlike Kitty, Lance moved away from Deerfield and at some point ended up living in Bayville where he was eventually recruited by Erik, via Mystique, into joining the Brotherhood. He along with the other members of the group were given a boarding house to live in and attended Bayville High together.
Other residents[]
- Kitty Pryde: Somewhat former resident and young mutant, Kitty moved to Bayville after being recruited into joining the X-Men.
- Lance Alvers: A former resident of the village who left his prior living arrangement and found his way to Bayville and began living there, he is also a mutant.
- Mr and Mrs Pryde: Kitty's human parents who at first did not believe their daughter's claims that she phased through the floor. They allowed Kitty to leave after she saved their lives.
- Riley Finn: former resident who bullied Kitty, she moved to Bayville and continued targeting Kitty until she was stopped by Lance using his powers.
- Ryan Griff: A former resident who moved from Deerfield to Bayville.
- Sydney White: A former resident who moved to Bayville and bullied Kitty with Riley.

- Illinois is mentioned in X-Men (2000) when Senator Kelly speak to Jean and those in attendance, he mentioned a mutant in Illinois that could phase through objects and remarked she could easily steal from a bank.
